Enventra Energy — Clean hydrocarbons via Underground Coal Gasification (UCG), Syngas & GTL

Our Mission

Enventra Energy develops and operates underground coal gasification (UCG) projects that provide cleaner hydrocarbons for power generation, hydrogen production, and gas-to-liquids (GTL) fuels. By combining subsurface expertise with process engineering, we deliver conditioned, measured syngas ready for integration into global energy systems while maintaining strong assurance on groundwater protection and pressure envelopes.

How We Operate

Our approach is modular, monitored, and built around transparent execution. Each stage—appraisal, pilot, demonstration, and commercial—reduces risk, captures verified data, and ensures safe, responsible operations. Where required, carbon capture and storage (CCS) is incorporated to meet ESG objectives and regulatory compliance, with clear measurement and verification across composition, flow, and pressure.

Key Capabilities

  • UCG → controlled syngas production
  • Gas clean-up, heat recovery, compression
  • Fischer–Tropsch GTL: diesel, naphtha, base oils
  • Power & hydrogen pathways with optional CCS
  • Stage-gated delivery: appraisal → pilot → demo → commercial

Global Expertise

Our work builds on a strong international foundation. Our strategic alliance with Holland and Hausberger leverages their proven commercial-scale syngas operations and practical topside playbook for field execution. In Canada, the University of Alberta advances UCG modeling, geomechanics, and gas clean-up integration, while the University of Calgary contributes energy systems and process optimization research.

Research & Innovation

Queen’s University Belfast deepens computational modeling and environmental assurance. In the U.S., Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) pioneered the Controlled Retracting Injection Point (CRIP) method that underpins modern UCG practice, and its collaboration with BP showed how underground conversion can be conditioned and integrated safely at scale.
